Used the minor injuries service after a fall and injury to my head. I was assessed, had xrays taken, reviewed and discharged quickly (within 3hrs). The entire team (from receptionist, radiographer and both doctors I saw) were very friendly, informative and helped put be at ease. I needed to use a follow up clinic the next week, which I felt was also thorough and staff made me feel at ease.

I feel very fortunate living close to the JR. In my experience over 18months all the staff have been first class. The only small criticism I could make, I was taken for am MRI scan that was not required & having just had major surgery on my skull it did concern me, fortunately they realised in time they had collected the wrong patient

The Specialist Surgery Ward of this hospital was amazing. All of the staff were caring, and when I was at my lowest and couldn't eat Phil from the caterers checked on me and found things to tempt me to eat, and I discussed how I felt with my nurse (Rachel) and her support helped me to recover.

Whilst I cannot fault the care by Mr Almeyda, the feeling on the day of surgery was not quite the same. I appreciate that it was a big ward with many operations to get through, but it was very matter of fact. I compare this to the care I received recently at the Nuffield Orth. for a recent knee op., where the care was much higher. On admission, the usual checks were done. But post op, no checks were done before discharge, it was just a question of waiting until the prescribed time since the op before I was sent home with painkillers, whereas at Noc, there were two checks of vitals before I was allowed home. I appreciate that the staff are very busy, but it felt very impersonal.

I can't fault anything, I was well informed right the way through my treatment and even when he was running late for his clinic, I was kept informed. All the nurses were lovely and caring too and couldn't do enough for you.

I was recently a patient on the Neuroscience ward, short stay ward on level 2 (green area). All staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. They made a very difficult time for me easier and I cannot thank them all enough for their efforts and kindness shown to me during my stay. At times it was too noisy during the night and whilst I understand certain jobs have to be done it was clear some staff were not as considerate as others. Quieter nights would have helped my recovery.

The problem with hospitals generally is that hospitals treat patient like a company`s customer services treats their customers. Patients are not customers, we do not purchase health, we seek solutions for our problems. so Health service must be given solidy, not with 3-5 months further dated appointments. Appointment system somehow does not compete with other countries health care systems. Send patients to private hospitals and NHS can pay for the treatments. A lot of staff working in hospitals but still not enough so there is a matching problem with the staffing pattern and the quality & timing of the patient service given..

My mother was rushed into JR on Thursday and died last night. I have nothing but praise for the doctors and nurses that cared for her. They treated her with dignity and respect up to and after her death. They also kept the family informed of the treatment they were giving and why certain decisions were made. Thank you particularly to the staff on Ward 7D, your care is so much appreciated in my mothers last few days.

I cannot speak too highly of the care I received during my 3 day stay in John Radcliffe Hospital. Whilst the doctors and nurses showed both care and concern before surgery, I was treated well in every respect after my operation by the nursing and support staff. It is wrong to single out individuals as all staff were worthy of praise, but a Portuguese nurse called 'Ana' was most professional and kind right up to the point of my discharge. In fact many of the nursing staff are from other countries and I found them to be very hard working, professional and really friendly. The ward appeared very clean and constant attention was given to this aspect of care. The food was varied and quality good. Having had surgery at three different hospitals in the last few years I can say, without hesitation, that my treatment at John Radcliffe was undoubtedly the best. A big 'thank you' to all the staff.
